This past Christmas was the first time we stayed in Texas. It was definitely different and although we prefer to be with our families, we still enjoyed ourselves. On Christmas Eve, my brother and his family came over for a nice dinner before they were heading out of town. I have never had the opportunity to host a holiday meal or any nice dinner so I decided since this was my first time, that it would be appropriate to use my China that has been sitting in my cabinets for the last 8 years unopened. Every year, we also do a cousin Christmas present exchange, so we let the kids open their cousin gift and they also got their Christmas pajamas.
Landon got some puzzles
Chase got a remote control car. I know he doesn't look thrilled but this was
one thing that really wanted.
Right before bed, we put some food out for the reindeer and "red batteries" aka red gummies for Rudolph's nose and said goodbye to our elf Christopher. I am so glad we did the reindeer food because we kind of forgot to put out cookies and milk for Santa. Luckily Chase wasn't too upset.
I also tried getting some pictures of the boys in front of the Christmas tree. For your amusement, here are some pictures of our many attempts.
Even though they are not looking, this is my favorite. Laughing and having fun together.
Christmas morning we enjoyed opening presents, playing with toys, and talking to our family on Skype. In the evening we were able to join some friends for dinner and games. We try to Christmas simple to each boy got a game, a movie, slippers, and a book and then something from Santa.
The boys both got headlamp flashlights which was a big hit.
Landon wore his sideways like this the whole day.
Chase was thrilled to give me Sour patch candies
My gift from Santa was a food dehydrator.
Craig got a belt sander from Santa.
Our most favorite part of the Christmas was being able to share our exciting news with our family that we were expecting baby #3. We had mailed out Christmas cards and told them they had to wait until Christmas to open them.
Some guessed why we were having them wait until Christmas but it was still exciting to share!
