Chase turns 5

Chase turned 5 years old and I keep thinking to myself, really he is 5 years old? It has gone by so fast. I just want him to stop growing now and stay this age forever but I know that can't happen so we party on and we try to make his day the best ever.

Things I always want to remember about Chase at this age is his love for learning. He started preschool this year and is excited everyday he gets to go. He is very detail oriented and has a very good memory. A lot of things he learns are through observance.

He still loves and always has loved anything construction. He can name any construction vehicle he sees. He also enjoys puzzles, legos, and computer games.

Just within the last few months, he has really gotten into pretend play and loves to dress up. We have accumulated various costumes over the years and he rotates through them quickly. His favorite right now is dressing up as a pirate. Although dressing up as a fire fighter follows close behind.

Chase is very hard worker and likes to help around the house Yes, this boy asks me all the time if he can clean my toilets and wash my dishes! He also likes helping Dad with projects. He has a good attention span when helping with projects and will last a couple of hours without getting bored.

The morning of his birthday he got to help Dad change the brakes on his truck. I was able to sneak this cute picture of him working before he noticed me.

After fixing the truck, our local fire station was having a open house so we headed there to check out the firetrucks. Chase especially liked all the tools they had.

After the fire station, we had a little surprise for Chase. A few months before Chase's birthday, airplane tickets went on sale and Craig's sister purchased tickets for her and her kids to come visit us. They were flying in on Chase's birthday so we decided to keep it a surprise. I told Chase I forgot to pick up one of his birthday presents and he needed to go with Dad to pick it up. Chase got excited that they were "just driving by the airport" so Craig asked him if he wanted to go in and look at the airplanes. While Chase was looking at the airplanes, his aunt and cousins came up behind him and yelled Happy Birthday. They kind of startled him but once he figured out what was going on he was happy to see them and have them there for his birthday party.

Chase always gets to choose the theme of his birthday and he chose Lego's this year. I made a Lego man that  hung on the wall next to his birthday banner, a Lego pinata and of course a Lego themed cake.

Chase was spoiled this year but only because he has so many people who love him and helped spoil him. He got a Nerf gun, Tangled movie, Connect Four game, Lego firetruck set, and an Ipod touch.

Sadly, the birthday cake didn't turn out well. It definitely could be categorized as pinterest ideas gone bad but that's okay, it still got eaten and Chase was happy.

Thinking for a minute about his wish

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY BOY!
