Getting Crafty

I do not consider myself to have much skill when it comes to crafts and sewing but it is something I always do enjoy. Over the last few months, I have worked have different projects and I am happy the way they worked out especially considering that most of the time, I have no clue what I am doing.

This use to be a dry eraser calendar that I turned into a magnet board for Chase's room. Unfortunately cannot take credit for the magnets but thought it turned out really cute.

This is another magnet board I had forever. The letters just use to be painted brown and I always thought it was a boring so I decided to use my scrapbook paper and use mod podge to spice it up.

One rainy day, Chase and I made this big dice together and created lots of different games. It it number and color coordinated. One of his favorite games is using the numbers. We choose an action he has to do such as a somersault and then he rolls the dice to see how many somersaults he has to do. We also play scavenger hunt using the colors. If he rolls the dice on red, then he has to find something red in the house and bring it to me. This dice has provided hours of entertainment :)

My sweet husband let me buy a sewing machine for my birthday in December. It took me awhile to figure out which one to buy but I finally got on in March and got for anxious to start using it. I have zero experience in sewing but want to learn. I got this great idea from a ward member who made this  reversible cape for a Old Wives Shower that we went to. Chase loves it!

This is also another great idea I got from the Old Wives Shower. You can write a little note with a dry erase marker on the glass and then erase it and use it again. I have this on the counter in our bathroom and thought it would be a nice way to show my husband the little things I appreciate about him and then he can also tell me how wonderful I am!

I will have to admit our family is not consistent with Family Home Evening. So I have been working on creating Family Home Evening lessons a couple months ahead of time to help us. We are on week #2 so I can't call it successful yet. But this is something I created for a Family Home Evening Lesson on Extended Families. I thought it turned out awesome and is a great way to help Chase understand that his Daddy and Mommy also have parents and siblings. My Mom does a lot of genealogy work so I think she is proud too!

Art Car Parade

This last Saturday we went to the Art Car Parade in Houston with my brother and his family. It is known as the largest art car parade in the world. I have never been to anything quite like this. We wanted to have a nice shady spot, so we packed our lunches and gave ourselves plenty of time before the parade started. We were more towards the end of the parade and we thought the parade looped around but it didn't so unfortunately our awesome shady spot were not so awesome but we had fun anyways. We look forward to next year's parade.

Chase, Rachel, and Audrey waiting for the parade to start.
