Family Visiting Part 1

My sister Amy and her family as well as my twin brother came to visit us at the beginning of May. I already have one brother who lives in the same area of us so it was almost a sibling reunion, we were just missing my oldest sister. After a few days of them visiting, the flu came upon us. Luckily the visitors somehow managed to not get the flu but between my family and my brother's family (the one who lives here in the same area as us), the flu just passed on from one person to the next. We still had a few days of fun and are so happy they came to visit us.

It was a bit windy and my swimsuit cover wouldn't stay down.

While they were here, we also had lots of outside playtime, celebrated two birthdays, and went to the butterfly museum. We haven't had a chance to exchange pictures yet so looked forward to Family Visiting part 2.

Preschool

This school year I decided to do preschool with Chase. We focused on shape, number, and letter recognition. Each week, we had a theme and focused on one letter a week. I tried to make it a fun learning experience for the both of us so we had a lot of different activities. We read books, did art projects, played games, and occasionally went on field trips. It was a lot of work to think of ideas and put together the lessons but I am so glad I did. Last September I tested him on shapes, number recognition, letters recognition, and counting and he missed a lot but when I tested him at the end of April, he knew all his shapes, recognizes all numbers up to ten, can count to 30, and only missed two letters. He also knows how to write many of letters of the alphabet too. I am so proud of him and I loved the time we spent together. It was exciting to see him learn new things and it gave me confidence as a mother that I have the capability to teach my children. I guess we were too busy learning because there are not a lot of pictures but here are a few.

Last Day of Preschool

Chase always insist on doing a silly face picture.

I keep looking at his first day of preschool vs. last day of preschool and can't believe how grown up he looks. I love this boy so much and I am excited he will be attending preschool  next year so he can continue to learn and get ready for Kindergarten.

Aunt Carolee came for a visit

Craig's sister Carolee was able to come down for a few days back in April. Chase was so excited to see her and kept asking me how many more sleeps so we made a paper chain for him to countdown the days. Unfortunately the weather was not the best but we still had a great time.

On the first day we went down to Galveston and went to Seawolf Park that has a submarine and battleship that you can tour and then took a ferry ride on the ocean.

Inside the submarine. It would be dangerous if these two boys
were really steering the submarine.

Saturday Morning Craig and Carolee were able to do a NASA tour. Craig has some inside resources and was able to arrange a private tour. They got to go inside the international space station model where the astronauts train. I have been on a private tour before but the astronauts were in training so that area was closed off when I went so I am a little jealous that they got to see it.

This is the actually glove they wear

 And the actually helmet

After NASA we headed back to Galveston and spent some time at the beach. It was really windy and cold. The boys mostly played in the sand.

And this is how I spent my time at the beach.

In deep thought

Perfect timing of Chase falling down in the water.

On Monday we went to the park in the morning, had lunch with Craig and then Carolee and I took the kids to Memorial Hermann Park for a train ride.

Landon was really tired and was ready for a nap.

After the train ride, we said our goodbyes. It went by way too quickly but we are so glad Carolee came to visit us and look forward to more visits!

Oh Landon

Landon has a bit obsession with keys right now. He loves them so much that I finally started saving the keys that come in the mail that car dealerships send as advertisements and made him his own key chain. Below he will see how happy he is when he has his keys and how unhappy he is when you take away his keys.  I now clean the keys regularly because he does like to put them in his mouth.

Poor poor child.
